Fredrik Paulsson has appeared as soloist with orchestras in Scandinavia and Europe with conductors such as Stig Westerberg, Sylvain Cambreling and Alexander Lazarev and in chamber music with artists such as Janine Jansen, Leif- Ove Andsnes, Julius Drake, Truls Mørk, Natalie Clein, Colin Carr, Maxim Rysanov, Martin Fröst, Andreas Blau and Pierre-Laurent Aimard.
He tours frequently in Europe, Australia, Asia, North and South America and appears at International Festivals including Aldeburgh, Bath, Norwich, Oxford, Edinburgh, Perth, Risör and Kuhmo. Resent seasons concerts has taken him to venues like the Palais de Beaux Arts, Brussels; Wigmore Hall, London; Musikverein and Konzerthaus, Vienna; Concertgebouw, Amsterdam and the Lincoln Centre’s Alice Tully Hall, New York.
As founding leader of the Yggdrasil Quartet he gained an international reputation as top price winner in the London International Quartet Competition and Melbourne International Chamber Music Competition. With the Quartet he made several recordings for the BIS label which has been shortlisted for the Gramophone ”Record of the Year” Award and awarded the Times ”Record of the Month” Award and the Cannes MIDEM Award for best chamber music recording. As violist and member of the Danel Quartet he made several recordings Auvidis Valois and Radio France.
Fredrik Paulsson has been ”Artist in Residence” at the Swedish Radio and leader of the Swedish Chamber Orchestra and the Gothenburg Opera Orchestra. Since 2005 he is a member of the Chamber Orchestra of Europe and has done several tours as principal with conductors such as Emanuel Krivine, Yannick Nezet-Seguin, Vladimir Jurowski, Bernard Haitink and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. He is often guest leading in orchestras such as Philharmonia Orchestra and the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
He is one of the founding members of the Stockholm Syndrome Ensemble. In 2012 the ensemble was invited to create a series at one of the most exiting concert platforms in Sweden, Musikaliska, Nybrokajen 11. The series are broadcasted in collaboration with Swedish Radio P2 live.
Over the coming years he has started an artistic collaboration as director and soloist with chamber orchestra Musica Vitae. In April 2014 starts a new series of concerts with Paulsson as Artistic Director.
